Kangwon University at Samcheok has a job available.

The job is for a new institute teacher so it is about 60% elementary kids.
However during semester the teacher will be allowed to teach at the university
for 43,000 won per hour about 2-4 hours a week.  The rest of the contract is
pretty much standard.  Base pay goes as follows:

under 84 hours 1,600,000 won
between 84-95 hours 1,700,00 won
96 hours 1,800,000 won over that will be given 20,000 per hour over time.

The teacher will teach about 96 hours a month. Fridays are usually short.
There will be a housing allowance of 3 million a year. The last teachers either
lived on the beach or in Donghae.  They also stayed here for 2 and 3 years.
There will be two 2 week vacations.  Of course there will be a severence and
airfair.

The teacher will be pretty much left alone to do what they want to do.
The institute director is also chairman of the English department and is really laissez-faire.
Perhaps the the best thing of all is the opportunity to move up in
the university.  I heard rumor we will be expanding.

Samcheok is very much a country town, unlike Sokcho there is not a lot of
English here.  I reckon it is Korean Korean. The Foreigners who stay here
I think are really more the adventurous type or really don't like big cities.
Samcheok is slow. Maybe it is about 5 years behind Gangneung.
Often when I go to Seoul or Incheon I'm shocked at the contrast.
It takes a little more than 3 hours by bus to get to Seoul.

The teacher should be able to take the solitary moments of life here as well as
be ethical, (that is not sleeping with the students) As a foreigner here you are in
the spotlight which is a lot of pressure, but has its benefits as well.

We are looking to hire as soon as April.
If there are any questions please contact me or the university.
